The expansion projects continue for Chrysler, as the automaker recently unveiled its $350 million paint plant that is a total of $425,000-square feet. It is now a part of the Sterling Heights, MI facility, a plant that has been renovated and saved from nearly closing back in 2010. The new addition marks the first paint plant that Chrysler has built in nearly two decades, a positive sign that there is definitely a prosperous future ahead for the automaker.

Operation is set to begin at the new plant early next year, as it recently reached about 85 percent completion. The current Sterling Heights facility is where both the Chrysler 200 convertible and Dodge Avenger are built. However no details have been released by the automaker as to which models will be painted at the new plant, this information is being kept top secret for now.

The addition of the paint plant to the facility will add about 450 more jobs. As of now, 2,300 employees work at the Assembly Plant next door. With Chrysler's decision to keep the facility open, it has been able to preserve many jobs, and therefore keep the surrounding Sterling Heights community financially stable.

Overall, Chrysler has invested over $3.2 billion into its facilities within the U.S. over the past four years. This has helped to stabilize the future, and will assist the automaker in being able to keep showrooms like Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Pocatello stocked with a full selection of new Chrysler models.
